There are TONS of website designers and agencies out there. Quality and price ranges are also all over the place. Let’s ignore the super cheap guys for this conversation. It’s not too hard to find a designer that can lay out your elements on the page in a nice way and use a pleasing color palette. That does NOT mean that the website will perform in both conversions and traffic. In our experience, they rarely do.
We believe a website should convert traffic into leads or sales. To do that, there are known elements, triggers, colors even that encourage visitors to take action from the culmination of millions… more like billions of split tests that prove how one design converts better than another one. Converting visitors is more a science, than an art.
It’s a constant process of trying to beat the control, and is worth it as it’s one of the most important aspects to online marketing. This is known as Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) and increases conversions from the traffic you are already getting.
Google started using metrics like time on site, pages per visit, bounce rate, etc. as quality signals that a site delivered what the searcher was looking for – or did not deliver. The better users interact with your site, the more Google wants to put your site in front of their customers, the searchers.
Too many people think they just need to put a website up and people will start coming. This isn’t the early ‘90s anymore when the internet was just getting started. There’s massive competition now, especially for the ranks that collect paying customers.
Even if you think you don’t really have competition, you do. Search for something that you would use to find your site. How many pages are filled with other websites? What’s the total number of sites Google found in that ONE search? Millions. That’s the noise your prospective customer has to sift through in order to find you… or they find your competitor.
Websites need to be architected correctly for ease of use for the visitor AND ease of indexing for Google. From navigation to code to page choices to blog posts to you name it. There’s a lot of ways to do this wrong and only a few ways to do this right where you end up looking forward to seeing the leads or sales generated from your website.
Sure web designers and agencies alike are hip to this need and say they’ll make your site “SEO friendly”, but what they do for that is, well, not even close to enough to make any difference in your business.
For example, adding the Yoast SEO plugin is a great start – but it’s not ready right out of the box. It needs to be adjusted correctly for your needs along with the Meta Data filled out – properly. Again, there’s a lot of ways to do this wrong by just picking broad keywords, but to do it in a way that will move the needle on your traffic is by selecting the RIGHT keywords and phrases to fill in for each page.
As experts in SEO and CRO, we build responsive websites with all of the components we know will help both conversions and free search traffic. Responsive websites mean they will adapt to any screen the visitor is using – no need for a separate mobile site, that’s actually bad in several ways. We use a variety of tools to research the best keywords, phrases, and add those to your website – correctly. We also design for conversions using the best known CRO techniques so you have the best chance of success right out of the gate.
Sounds like something your business could use?
